Dhammapada verse # 288 ~ 289
父子與親戚，莫能為救護。彼為死所制，非親族能救。
No sons are there for shelter
nor father nor related folk,
one by the Death-king seized upon
in kin no shelter finds.
了知此義已，智者持戒律，通達涅槃路──迅速令清淨。
Having understood this fact
the wise by virtue well-restrained
swiftly then should clear the path
leading to Nibbana.

【第288-289偈的故事】
波她卡娜失去丈夫，兩個兒子，父母和唯一的哥哥後，機乎發瘋。當她親近佛陀時 ，佛陀告訴她：「波她卡娜！兒女無法照顧妳的！即使妳的一對兒子仍然健在，他們也 不是為妳而存在的。有智慧的人遵守戒律，掃除證入涅槃的一切障礙。」
